Focus Areas
Laboratory Bench Research
Laboratory bench research is where scientists conduct experiments to make discoveries. This involves working with cells, tissues, and molecules to develop potential treatments and test their efficacy in controlled environments.

Biospecimen Workflow Optimization
Cancer is not a single disease. It consists of a dozen types and countless subtypes. Researchers need a critical mass of samples (i.e., biospecimens) to fully understand the pathology of each type and to predict better how tumors will behave and respond to targeted treatments. We are working to make the biospecimen workflow more patient-centred so more people with cancer can donate to research.

Manitoba Onco-Multiomics Initiative
A significant number of cancer types are highly-aggressive and continue to show poor outcomes with standard-of-care treatment. Our newly formed multi-disciplinary team will perform molecular profiling of these aggressive solid tumour subtypes at their earliest stages (prior to any treatment) and identify opportunities for new multiomics data-driven drug interventions and/or clinical trials that may alter treatment trajectories and outcomes.
Bedside Patient Care Research
Bedside patient care research focuses on improving care delivered directly to patients. It involves studying real-time interactions, treatment effectiveness, and patient experiences to improve care delivery and patient outcomes.
