PAIN Alt Trial

The PAIN-Alt Trial compares pain management outcomes for patients who have undergone breast surgery using either opioid analgesia or opioid-free analgesia. This trial is particularly important given Canada’s ongoing opioid crisis, where opioid misuse and dependence have become pressing issues. Additionally, despite high post-surgical prescription rates (70-95% in the U.S. and Canada vs. 0-5% in Europe, Asia, South America, and the Middle East), patient satisfaction with pain management remains low. This trial will provide valuable real-world data to inform and improve future post-surgery outpatient pain management approaches.
