Extended-Duration Thromboprophylaxis

The research results will give healthcare professionals important information about if direct oral anticoagulation is effective and safe in prevent venous thromboembolism after major abdominal surgery.

We are conducting a clinical trial comparing direct oral anticoagulation versus nothing after major abdominal surgery. The primary outcome of this trial is clinically-detected venous thromboembolism. The secondary outcomes are major and clinically relevant, non-major bleeding.

The results of this clinical trial will be used to change practice.
